GM Daewoo Debuts New Magnus Sedan

Seoul August 30, 2004; The Korea Hearald reported that GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. introduces a new version of its Magnus midsize sedan today, highlighting the car's powerful engine as a selling point.

The 2005 Magnus features a six-cylinder engine featuring strong horsepower and great fuel mileage, the company said. Until now, most local midsize cars have been equipped with four-cylinder engines.

The new Magnus will compete head-to-head with the NF Sonata, the redesigned version of Hyundai Motor Co.'s top-selling Sonata sedan. The NF Sonata is scheduled for launch tomorrow.

GM Daewoo plans to price the car at around 20 million won for the 2000cc-engine version and 22.8 million won for the 2,500cc.

The Korean affiliate of General Motors Corp. sold 41,805 Magnus sedans last year.
