Franchitti Qualifies Fourth in ArcaEx Car at Nazareth

       NAZARETH, Pa. (Aug. 28, 2004) - Dario Franchitti recorded a lap of 165.684 miles
per hour (20.3158 seconds) in the #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone during qualifying
today at Nazareth Speedway, which earned him the fourth starting position for Sunday's
running of the Indy Racing LeagueŽ IndyCarŽ Series Firestone Indy 225.
        Franchitti, who was victorious earlier this season on the 1-mile ovals at Milwaukee
and Pikes Peak, was the 20th of 21 cars to make qualifying attempts and made a strong effort
to obtain a front-row starting berth. But, the ArcaEx car exhibited slightly too much
understeer to land a front-row position.
        Helio Castroneves earned the pole position with a speed of 167.396 miles per hour
(20.1080 seconds). He will start alongside teammate Sam Hornish Jr., who registered a
speed of 167.100 miles per hour (20.1436 seconds), Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan will
start third with a speed of 166.591 miles per hour (20.2052 seconds), Franchitti is fourth and
Darren Manning will start fifth with a speed of 165.609 miles per hour (20.3250 seconds).
        During Saturday's final practice session, Franchitti was involved in a pit lane incident
with Scott Dixon. The ArcaEx car sustained minor damage to its front wing, which was
replaced, and Franchitti was able to continue the session.
        The Firestone Indy 225, Round 13 of the 2004 IRL IndyCar Series, is set to go green
at 2:25 p.m. (EDT) Sunday, with ABC Sports providing live broadcast coverage of the 225-
lap event beginning at 2 p.m. (EDT).

        "I'm a bit disappointed in my qualifying run, but I think the ArcaEx car will be a decent
race car. I just had too much understeer. My teammates had that too and we just didn't make
quite enough of a change to get the perfect car. We're pretty good in race trim and I'll try to
get the ArcaEx car up front and we'll see what happens. It's so tight here at Nazareth and
anything can happen."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing:
        "We're happy with the ArcaEx car, but we could be three spots happier. Dario had a
good run, but we had a bit too much understeer. It's going to be a long race tomorrow and
we've proven that we can win from that qualifying position on these short ovals. We'll just
hope for the same result."
