BarCode ID Systems to Exhibit Automotive Compliance Labeling & Shipping System at Auto-Tech 2004
ATLANTA--Aug. 2, 20046, 2004--BarCode ID Systems, a mobile computing and RFID solutions provider, will demonstrate its innovative software program for automotive compliance labeling and shipping at the Auto-Tech trade show, August 31-September 2, 2004, Detroit's Cobo Conference Center, booths 408/410.ACLS--Automotive Compliance Labeling & Shipping was initially created for suppliers of General Motors to automate the challenging 1724 compliance label standard mandated by the automotive OEM. ACLS integrates with the supplier's host system to detect and gather time-sensitive shipment release and EDI data, then automatically generate the required GM 1724A individual container label for product shipping.
Unique to the ACLS solution is its built-in scanning routine, developed to document shipment data as pallets being built, eliminate shipping errors, and provide proper shipment verification. BarCode ID Systems developed this routine based upon GM's recommendation that master (1724B) and/or mixed (1724C) labels be generated by a scanning process, rather than manually or as part of a batch process. Automatic production of master and mixed labels reduces errors and provides verification that each container is part of a unique shipment to GM. The captured data is then available as a source for shipment verification.
Most importantly, ACLS is a distributed application, which can run independently at the plant level and work completely off-line if a supplier's network is down. GM shipments typically have a tight window during which products must be palletized and labeled properly with the most current EDI data. If a supplier's host system is down, ACLS enables remote locations to label, build and ship a load without delay, complete with the proper container, mixed and master 1724 labels printed to exact GM specifications.
ACLS enables GM and other automotive OEM suppliers to print compliance labels to exact specification, even when core network systems are down. With proper compliance labeling and reduction in shipment errors, suppliers can virtually eliminate the risk of non-compliance fines, citations or performance warnings.
