Stremme Looks to Continue Consistency Through Unpredictable Bristol Race
Bristol, TN (August 25, 2004) – David Stremme has enjoyed three straight
consistent finishes of 11th or higher in the last three Busch Series races. Now
Team TRIMSPA looks to continue that streak through the toughest short track
race of the season, the August night race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“I consider the Bristol night race to be the premier short track event of
the season, and quit possibly the most exciting race all year,” said Stremme,
driver of the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge. “When you walk into that stadium you feel
like a gladiator. Bristol is so small and fast that you have to be on your
toes. It is demanding. You have to think quicker because trouble can come up on
you so fast. Track position is definitely going to be a key factor to earn a
top finish.”
In his first Busch race at Bristol Motor Speedway last March, Stremme worked
his TRIMSPA Dodge into the top five during the closing laps. While taking
over the third spot, Stremme was bumped into the wall ending his chances of a
top finish. Team TRIMSPA left the half-mile bullring with their only
terminally damaged racecar of the season.
“We really had a top five taken from us in Bristol last time,” said Stremme
about the wreck and postrace fireworks captured on camera and aired on the
SPEED channel reality show NBS 24/7. “I am over that whole deal now. In the
course of the season you trade paint with so many people your list can get
pretty long, especially with the up and down season Team TRIMSPA has had. All I
am concerned about is running a smart race and finishing up front.”
Stremme and Team TRIMSPA will hit the track for the Food City 250 at Bristol
Motor Speedway, on Friday, August 27th. The event will be televised live at
8 p.m. eastern time on TNT and will broadcast nationally at that same time on
radio stations affiliated with Performance Racing Network (PRN) and XM
Satellite Radio Channel 144.
