4th Annual York County Nationalss at SSP on Thursday Night
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (August 17, 2004) – This Thursday night, August 26, SSP
will host the 4th annual York County Nationals featuring a 32-lap feature for
the 410 Sprint Cars paying $3,200 to the winner. The top six drivers in
points that include Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease, Jim Siegel, Greg Hodnett, Eric
Stambaugh and Brian Leppo are automatically qualified for the feature event
and will compete in a $300-to-win “winner take all 5 lap dash. Six other
drivers will qualify through the heats to draw for starting position (1-12) in
the feature along with the top six in points.
The Xtreme Enduro Stock Cars feature event will be 25 laps paying
$300-to-win. There has been a $200 bonus added to the winner’s purse “in memory of
Bob Bender, a driver at SSP from the 60’s and 70’s.” The bonus money was
donated by Bender’s Garage in Landisville, PA. The Pepsi Challenge “double money
” bonus will only be in effect for the $300-to-win. Charlie Pensinger, Sam
Rial, Allan Miller, Jerry Blauch and Larry Hughes Jr. all have the
opportunity to win $800.00 if they can win the Xtreme Enduro Stock Car feature event.
The highly competitive Classic Cars will also be in action on Thursday.
Gates open in the pit area at 4:00 p.m. with the grandstand gates opening
at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30
p.m. Grandstand ticket prices are Adults (18 & older) $15.00; Teens
(13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12) $4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free. SSP will
continue its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00 discount for
each person with a ticket stub from the August 22 event only. For example,
$2.00 off an Adult ticket for August 26 with and Adult ticket stub from the
August 22 event. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address
and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into a special drawing
to be held at the end of the season. The grand prize will be two tickets to
the NASCAR race in October at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North
Carolina. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all
track license holders. A track license is $25.00 for the year. The raindate
will be announced as to not conflict with the race scheduled at Grandview
Speedway on Sunday featuring the 410 Sprint Cars and Big Block Modifieds.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles
NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. For more information,

SSP News and Notes:
- A $200.00 will be imposed for any car and driver that finishes in the top
three positions of their feature event and does not stop in victory lane on
the frontstretch. The fine will be deducted from the purse winnings of that
driver.
- A new race date has been added to the 2004 SSP race schedule on Sunday
night, September 5 with the Credit Connection / Trail Motors Night at the Races
featuring the Super Sportsman Tour, the Silver Springs Street Stocks paying
$500-to-win and double features for the PA Four Cylinders. The Silver
Springs Street Stocks feature is sponsored by Miller’s Racing Parts.
- An aggressive 2005 racing schedule is in the planning stages with a wide
variety of divisions and great racing action. Weekly Thursday night racing
will continue in 2005 with the 410 Sprint Cars, Xtreme Enduro Stock Cars and
one other class or novelty act per night. The 358/360 Sprint Car Open
Challenge events will continue on nights when the 410 Sprint Cars are scheduled off.
There will also be eight Sportsman Tour Races scheduled for every other
Sunday beginning on June 5 and ending on September 4. Other notable dates
include four Great American School Bus Races to be announced and PA Speedweeks on
Thursday, June 30. A mid-summer break from racing action is also tentatively
planned from July 4 through July 16. More exciting and prestigious events
will be announced in the near future.
- The new spectator pit viewing area behind the turn one grandstand has been
completed and will be open.
- The post season awards for the 2004 SSP 410 Sprint Car Points Championship
will be three (3) 2005 Season Pit Passes for the championship team (Value =
$1,500). Drivers finishing second through fifth will receive two (2) 2005
Season Pit Passes (Value = $1,000 per team). Drivers finishing sixth through
tenth will receive one (1) 2005 Season Pit Pass (Value = $500 per team). The
complimentary driver’s pit pass for all licensed members will also be in
effect again for 2005.
- The post season awards for the 2004 SSP Xtreme Stock Car Points
Championship will be two (2) 2005 Season Pit Passes for the championship team (Value =
$1,000). Drivers finishing second through fifth will receive one (1) 2005
