Capital Automotive Prices Public Offering of 1,600,000 Common Shares

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 24, 2004 -- Capital Automotive REIT , the nation's leading specialty finance company for automotive retail real estate, today announced that it has priced a public offering of 1,600,000 of its common shares at $28.95 per share. Net proceeds of the offering are expected to be approximately $45.6 million. The offering is expected to close on August 27, 2004. The Company has also granted the underwriters an over-allotment to purchase up to 240,000 additional shares. All of the common shares are being sold by the Company. The net proceeds of the offering are expected to be used to repay existing secured indebtedness incurred in connection with property acquisitions and to make future property acquisitions.
