HERTA TAKES XM CAR TO NINTH AT PPIR

       FOUNTAIN, Colo. (Aug. 22, 2004) - XM Satellite Radio driver Bryan Herta
fell a lap down early, but fought back to collect a ninth-place finish at the Honda Indy
225 Sunday at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
       Herta, who started sixth in the #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone,
started slowly, falling five spots in the first 25 laps.  Thanks to a caution on lap 120,
Herta stayed on the track and moved back onto the lead lap and into the 10th position
when the race resumed.
       As the final 100 laps wound down, Herta found himself as high as eighth, and
regularly running speeds with the lead pack.  When the 225-lap event concluded,
Herta captured his eighth top-10 finish of the 2004 Indy Racing League® IndyCar®
Series season and his fourth top-10 in a row.  He is currently ninth in the IndyCar
Series championship chase with 271 points, only 11 markers out of the eighth spot.
       Herta's teammate, Dario Franchitti, picked up his second win of the season in
the #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone machine, and the seventh win in 12 events
for Andretti Green Racing.  Teammate Dan Wheldon notched his eighth top-five
performance of the season, capturing third place.  Points leader, and AGR teammate,
Tony Kanaan finished the race in the fifth position.  Adrian Fernandez scored a
second-place finish with Darren Manning coming in fourth.
       The Firestone Indy 225 at Nazareth Speedway - the 13th race of the 2004
IndyCar Series schedule - will go green Sunday, Aug 29 at 2:15 p.m. (EDT).  ABC
coverage of the 100th IndyCar Series event will begin at 2 p.m.

       "That was a long day - a very long day. But, I got a ninth-place finish out of it
and I'm not sure the XM Satellite Radio car was that good. Plus, Dario won and Tony
had a good day in the points, so overall I think we've got to be pretty happy. I'm just
glad to get this one over with and get on to Nazareth. We need to win one in
Michael's backyard."

       "We just didn't have the car today. I think we got as much out of the XM
Satellite Radio car as we could. The guys did a great job in the pits and Bryan just
hung in there all day long. We just need to get on to Nazareth and see what we can
