                      HERTA QUALIFIES SIXTH IN PRACTICE
              AFTER RAIN CANCELS QUALIFYING AT PIKES PEAK

       FOUNTAIN, Colo. (August 21, 2004) - XM Satellite Radio driver Bryan Herta
posted a best lap of 172.308 miles per hour in practice today to secure the sixth spot
for tomorrow's running of the Honda Indy 225 at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
Rain forced the cancellation of afternoon qualifying at the one-mile oval.
       Herta, who heads into tomorrow's 225-lap event ranked eighth in the Indy
Racing League® (IRL) IndyCar® Series standings, was one of four Andretti Green
Racing drivers to place in the top-six positions.  The #11 Team 7-Eleven car driven
by Tony Kanaan grabbed the pole position with a fast lap of 174.311 miles per hour,
followed by the #26 Klein Tools/Jim Bean machine driven by Dan Wheldon who
came in at 173.586 miles per hour.
       Herta scored his eighth top-10 starting position of the 2004 IndyCar Series
season, including his fourth top-10 in a row.  He will be joined in the top-six by Vitor
Meira, who starts third with a lap of 173.149 miles per hour.  ArcaEx driver Dario
Franchitti will be starting fourth with a top speed of 172.196 miles per hour.  Helio
Castroneves will round out the top-five with a lap of 172.395 miles per hour.
       Kanaan's run gave Andretti Green Racing its fifth pole of the 2004 season and
eighth pole since joining the IRL in 2003. Kanaan has five of those poles, Dan
Wheldon has two and Dario Franchitti one. The team has won six of the 11 races run
this season.
       The Honda Indy 225 - the 12th race of the 2004 IndyCar Series season - is
set to go green Sunday at 3:45 (EDT) with ABC Sports providing live coverage
beginning at 3:30 p.m.

       "I would have liked to have qualified because we ran our fast time in practice
with half-tanks and we hadn't trimmed all the way out. There was still a little more left
in the car, but that's the way it goes. We're still right up there within striking distance
and I feel good about the XM Satellite Radio car for tomorrow."

XM Satellite Radio car. We were pretty quick today and never really got a chance to
