2004 Road America Report

GMAC/Trenton Forging #5 GTO Finishes 13th at Road America

Elkhart Lake, Wisc. – August 21, 2004 After qualifying 19th, the #5
GMAC / Trenton Forging GTO finished 13th in today’s SPEED World
Challenge GT race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The SPEED
World Challenge is appearing with the American Lemans Series at the
Road America 500, August 20-22.

“The car handle well through out the entire race,” said driver, Stu
Hayner. “We put a lot of time into changing the handling
characteristics of the car and it paid off. We’re limited in how much
we can change until the off-season, but for now we’ve made good
progress.”

“In addition, I’m extremely pleased with the car’s reliability,” Hayner
continued. “We knew when we started at Sebring that making the car
bullet-proof had to be a priority. I think we’ve done real well there.
We had some clutch issues during testing and were forced to put a
heavier set-up in for the race. The extra weight really brought down
the horsepower.”

David Moxlow talked about the team’s long-term plans.

“We’re doing what we can to finish the season,” said Moxlow. “There are
some things we want to do that are going to require tearing the car
down. The good news is, we know what we have to do. We’re pleased with
how far we’ve come and when you consider how many track records fell
this year. Everyone is going so much faster than they were last year.
We think we’ve had some respectable performances. I’m proud of Stu and
our crew. They’re doing a terrific job.”

Today’s SPEED World Challenge GT race will air August 29 at 1pm EST.
