Gas Prices Drop Slightly, But Oil Price Cause for Concern, AAA Chicago Says
AURORA, Ill., Aug. 19, 2004 -- According to AAA Chicago's most recent fuel gauge report, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Illinois now averages $1.90 per gallon, which is down 3 cents from this time last month and up 27 cents from last year's prices. In northern Indiana, gas prices now average $1.87, which is up 2 cents from last month an up 31 cents from last year's prices.
In Cook County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline now averages $2.02 per gallon, which is down 2 cents from last month's prices and up 32 cents from last year.
In DuPage County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline now averages $1.93 per gallon, 2 cents lower than July prices and 30 cents higher than last year.
In Kane County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $ 1.93 per gallon, 1 cent lower than July prices and 31 cents higher than last year's prices.
In Lake County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.92 per gallon, 4 cents lower than July prices and 31 cents higher than last year.
In McHenry County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.91 per gallon, 2 cents lower than July prices and 28 cents higher than last year.
In Will County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.93 per gallon, the same price as July prices and 38 cents higher than last year.
"While crude oil prices have hit record highs, the average gasoline price in Illinois and northern Indiana has slightly decreased," said AAA Chicago spokesperson Nicole Niemi.
