Toyota's Indiana Plant Featured in Company's Latest Corporate Ad
NEW YORK, Aug. 19, 2004 -- Toyota Motor North America, Inc. today announced that Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) will be featured in the third print execution of its new corporate advertising campaign, initially launched in July.
Entitled "Good Business," the campaign emphasizes Toyota's long-term commitment to the U.S. market, which has resulted in the creation of 190,000 jobs including dealers and suppliers.
"Toyota has invested more than $2.5 billion in TMMI, and our expansion of the plant last year created an additional 2,000 jobs," said Dennis Cuneo, senior vice president of Toyota Motor North America, Inc. "The plant is a perfect example of our long-term commitment to local communities and the environment, and our philosophy of building vehicles where they are sold."
Located in Princeton, TMMI commenced operations in 1998 and currently employs approximately 4,800 team members from the Tri-State area. The plant produces a total of 300,000 units annually of the Toyota Tundra pick-up truck, Toyota Sequoia sport utility vehicle and Toyota Sienna minivan.
The headline of the ad featuring TMMI reads, "Our blue-sky scenario: more U.S. manufacturing jobs, cleaner U.S. manufacturing plants." The accompanying photo is of the plant's main entrance showing the large scale of the plant and a vast blue-sky in the background. The ad copy mentions TMMI's receipt of the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence in 2002 and 2003, Toyota's longstanding manufacturing presence and job creation in the U.S. and the company's two new state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities being built under strict environmental standards.
The first two advertisements in this campaign featured Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama (TMMAL). Upcoming advertisements will include Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. in Torrance, Calif., site of the largest "green" building complex in the United States, as well as the following manufacturing facilities:
* Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (Georgetown) * Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia (Buffalo)
"Toyota's philosophy of 'harmonious growth' really comes together in its Princeton, Indiana plant," said Paul Bernasconi, executive vice president and executive creative director at DCA Advertising, who created the campaign. "It's a model of economic, social and environmental success. And one of Toyota's most important U.S. facilities."
The campaign is running in more than 40 national publications, including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Time and others. In addition, the ads will appear in local business publications in the communities surrounding some of the featured operations.
A member of the American business community since 1957, Toyota currently has eight manufacturing plants in the U.S., which built over 1 million vehicles in 2003. Toyota and its suppliers and dealers are responsible for more than 190,000 jobs in the U.S. and the company's total investment in the U.S. market now exceeds $12 billion.
