Pikes Peak marks Kanaan's 29th IndyCar Series start.
Kanaan has completed all 2,255 race laps run this season, making him the only IndyCar Series
driver to have completed every lap.
Kanaan is the only IRL IndyCar Series driver to have both started in the top 10 and recorded a top-
10 finish in all 11 outings in 2004. In addition, he is currently riding a string of 10 consecutive top-
five finishes.
Kanaan's 783 laps led this season are the most of any IndyCar Series driver, more than twice that
of the next-highest lap leader. Teammate Dan Wheldon ranks second with 318 laps led. The
IndyCar Series record for most laps led in a season is 812 by Tony Stewart (1996-97).
Kanaan has one previous IndyCar Series start at Pikes Peak International Raceway, starting from
pole position and finishing second in 2003.
Kanaan enters the Pikes Peak event atop the IndyCar Series point standings with 433 points; he
leads Buddy Rice by 50 points and Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dan Wheldon by 87 points.
Kanaan has four career IndyCar Series wins (Phoenix 2003 and 2004, Texas 2004, Nashville 2004)
and four IndyCar Series poles (Homestead 2003, Phoenix 2003, Pikes Peak 2003 and Michigan
