John Doddridge Resigns From INTERMET Board of Directors

TROY, Mich., Aug. 13, 2004 -- INTERMET Corporation today announced that John Doddridge, who recently stepped down as Chairman, has resigned from the company's Board of Directors, effective August 1, 2004. Doddridge, 63, is resigning in order to devote more time to other business and personal interests.

"The INTERMET board wants to thank John for his guidance and leadership during the last 10 years," said Gary F. Ruff, INTERMET Chairman and CEO. "During his tenure, he oversaw many important events, including the significant expansion into light-metals casting and the diversification of both our product portfolio and customer base. John played an instrumental role in the growth of our company. We appreciate his many contributions to INTERMET and the automotive industry, and wish him well."

Doddridge stepped down as CEO of INTERMET in July of 2003 and retired as Chairman in July of this year. INTERMET announced on July 15, 2004, that CEO Ruff had been elected to the additional post of Chairman.

Doddridge joined INTERMET as Chairman and CEO in 1994. Prior to joining INTERMET, he was Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Magna International, Inc., where he also served as a director. Before Magna, he was President of North American Operations of Dana Corporation where he also served as President of Hayes-Dana Inc., a subsidiary of Dana Corporation. Doddridge currently is a director of the Penske Corporation.
