NOTES OF INTEREST: The Waste Management 200 will be the 8th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Nashville Superspeedway since its debut there in 2001. From Nashville, the series steers for the Springfield IL mile-dirt the following weekend. More than 50 drivers from 18 states and Canada are currently entered for Nashville including 5-time series champion and current point leader Frank Kimmel. Kimmel's victory last week at Lake Erie tied him for second (54) with Jack Bowsher in all-time series wins. Kimmel is also only 1 superspeedway pole away from tying Tim Steele's all-time superspeedway pole mark of 18. In 7 previous Nashville starts, Kimmel has won 5 Pork Poles. Kimmel also needs to lead just 37 superspeedway laps to tie Steele's all-time superspeedway lap-leader mark of 2,308. However, red-hot rookie Ryan Hemphill, with 6 superspeedway wins this year, 5 Pork Pole awards and 514 laps-led, has taken a big bite out of Kimmel's '04 superspeedway pie. Hemphill led 73 of 113 laps at Nashville in April, and was leading inside of 10 laps to go when he got tangled up with a lapped car. 18-year-old Kyle Krisiloff, on the Hendrick Motorsports driver development program, will make his superspeedway debut at Nashville in the ditech.com Chevrolet. Krisiloff, after leading 38 laps last weekend on the Lake Erie short-track, is coming off a 9th place finish there in his series debut. 19-year-old Joey Miller, in a Matt Hagans Dodge, is another rookie hoping to turn heads at Nashville. Miller was quickest in Nashville open testing a few weeks back. Rookie Chris Moore will be making his return to RE/MAX Series competition at Nashville. Moore made 3 series starts in 2002 and never finished out of the top-5. TJ Bell, coming off another top-5 finish at Lake Erie, is locked in a tight battle for Rookie of the Year with AJ Fike. Bell leads Fike by just 14 points in the battle for ROY headed to Nashville. Former Indy 500 starter and Nashville IRL Infiniti Pro winner Cory Witherill will make his ARCA RE/MAX Series/stock car debut at Nashville. Witherill is a full-blooded Navajo Native American. 2-time Daytona ARCA 200 winner Bobby Gerhart will make his first attempt at Nashville. Defending race winner Mario Gosselin has filed an entry. Gosselin and Kimmel are the only former Nashville winners entered. Sons of former champions entered include Jason Jarrett whose father Dale Jarrett won the '99 Nextel Cup championship, Todd Bowsher whose father Jack Bowsher won ARCA titles in '63, '64 & '65 and Billy Venturini whose father Bill Venturini earned ARCA championships in '87 & '91.
