Trail Motors Open Challenge at SSP on Thursday
Trail Motors 358/360 Sprint Car Open Challenge II at SSP on Thursday Night NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (August 11, 2004) – This Thursday night, August 12, SSP the 358/360 Sprint Cars from Pennsylvania and all bordering states will invade the Susquehanna Speedway Park for the Trail Motors 358/360 Sprint Car Open Challenge II event paying $1,500 to the winner if they had previously entered the May 27th event. If they did not compete in the May 27 event, then they will win $1,200. The night will also feature the weekly excitement of the popular Xtreme Enduro Stock Cars and the EMMR Vintage Cars and Williams Grove Old Timers Association on the 1/2–mile Newberrytown oval. The winner of the first Trail Motors Open Comp Challenge Race on May 27, Brad McClelland of Westminster, Maryland, can pick up the $500 bonus if he can win this event as well. All drivers will declare which rules they are competing under as they enter the pit gate at the number draw and must abide by those rules. An open tire rule is in effect except for those competing for points under their declared organization. The top twelve qualifiers will redraw for starting positions in the feature event. In addition, Trail Motors is offering a $500 bonus to any driver that can win both the May 27 and August 12 events making a possible $2,000 payday for many drivers. Gates open in the pit area at 4:00 p.m. with the grandstand gates opening at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand ticket prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12) $4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free. SSP will continue its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00 discount for each person with a ticket stub from the August 5 event only. For example, $2.00 off an Adult ticket for August 12 with and Adult ticket stub from the August 5 event. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into a special drawing to be held at the end of the season. Prizes will be announced soon. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all track license holders. A track license is $25.00 for the year. The raindate will be Sunday, August 15 with the same time schedule. The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. SSP News and Notes: - A new race date has been added to the 2004 SSP race schedule on Sunday night, September 5 with the Credit Connection Night at the Races featuring the Super Sportsman Tour, the Silver Springs Street Stocks and double features for the PA Four Cylinders. - The new spectator pit viewing area behind the turn one grandstand has been completed and will be open for the August 12 event. - The post season awards for the 2004 SSP 410 Sprint Car Points Championship will be three (3) 2005 Season Pit Passes for the championship team (Value = $1,500). Drivers finishing second through fifth will receive two (2) 2005 Season Pit Passes (Value = $1,000 per team). Drivers finishing sixth through tenth will receive one (1) 2005 Season Pit Pass (Value = $500 per team).
