Metaldyne Names Tom Chambers President of Engine Group
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Aug. 10, 2004 -- Metaldyne announced today that Tom Chambers has joined the company as president of the Engine Group. Tim Leuliette, Metaldyne chairman, president and CEO made the announcement.
"Tom Chambers brings both OEM and Tier One experience to Metaldyne," said Leuliette. "We are pleased to have an executive of Tom's talent to join our expanding team of leaders. Tom's strength in assemblies and modules and his global experience will be a key asset to Metaldyne as we continue our worldwide growth."
Chambers has held a variety of positions in the automotive industry; most recently he served as the president of Piston Automotive. His experience also includes: managing director of operations, Americas for GKN; president of Electrical Systems and general manager of Brake and Chassis Product Lines for ITT Industries. From 1962-1992 he held numerous positions within General Motors including managing director of General Motors France.
As president of the Engine Group, Tom Chambers replaces George Thanopoulos who resigned to pursue other opportunities. Roseann Stevens, vice president of Sales and Marketing who previously reported to Thanopoulos, now reports to Tim Leuliette.
Metaldyne is divided into three product-focused groups -- Chassis, Driveline and Engine. The Engine group has 20 manufacturing, sales and technical locations throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia and approximately 3,000 employees worldwide. The Engine Group is the market leader in many of its product segments including NVH products, powder metal connecting rods and balance shaft modules.
