SoBeland to Offer Extreme Sports Demos, Free Gear at 2004 Grand Prix of Denver
Watch Action Athletes Andy Macdonald and Doug Parsons Showcase Their Skills
DENVER, Aug. 10 -- SoBeland is one of the most anticipated features at the 2004 CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver. Sponsored by SoBe Beverages, with free beverage and gear giveaways, pro-motocross and skateboarding demos, a mini-halfpipe for skateboarders, and autograph sessions by pro athletes, SoBeland will be an urban festival for all Grand Prix fans.

"What's great about SoBe is that fun is a key element in everything we do," says Tom Smallhorn, SoBe vice president of marketing. "And bringing SoBeland to the Grand Prix is one way we bring that SoBe fun to people. It is a perfect place for us to set up camp, because the crowd is active, enthusiastic and they love this event."
Fans cruising through SoBeland will be able to check out the interactive skateboarding area, featuring free demos by pro riders. Rich Cooley and X-Games skateboarding legend, Andy Macdonald, will be stopping by to showcase their skills. A mini-skate ramp will be open to the public, so amateur riders of all ages will able to throw down a few tricks of their own.
Andy Mac will also be showing off the newest gadget in his toy box. The Flybar, which has been described in headlines as a "pogo stick on steroids," will be onsite, and on it Andy can jump almost five feet off the ground. He's able to throw some crazy tricks into the mix too, which makes the Flybar something better seen than described. There are only a handful of Flybars in the country right now, so Grand Prix guests will be some of the first people ever to try out the Flybar.
For motocross fans, SoBeland will host an energy-packed freestyle motocross demonstration, presented by the crew at Freestylemx.com. X-Games athlete, Doug Parsons, and pro-rider, Myles Richmond, will join forces with Metal Mulisha team rider, Derek Garland, to show the crowd why freestyle motocross is one of the world's most popular action sports. From superman seat-grabs to no hander-landers, just the names of the tricks should intrigue the Grand Prix audience enough to check it out.
"SoBeland is a place where people can win free gear, meet up with some of their favorite pro athletes, hang out with the crazy SoBe crew and guzzle all the free SoBe they can drink," said Smallhorn. "Why wouldn't people stop by?"
The CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver is set for August 13 through August 15. Tickets can be purchased at the Pepsi Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.gpdenver.com or www.ticketmaster.com. Access to SoBeland is included with the purchase of any Grand Prix ticket.
SoBeland will be open all day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with Freestyle Motocross demos and the Interactive Skate area operating each day. Bring the kids! There will be skateboards and pads available so everyone can skate.
