WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 Salutes Woodward Dream Cruise with Live Prime Special and a Night of Classic TV

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 9, 2004 -- WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 cruises down memory lane for the 10th annual Woodward Dream Cruise on August 21 with a night of live programming, Classic TV and blanket news coverage devoted to the 2004 Woodward Dream Cruise. WXYZ is the event's exclusive television sponsor.

To rev up for the evening festivities, Channel 7 Action News anchors Stephen Clark and Diana Lewis will co-host the program from their home base production set outside of Duggan's in Royal Oak to host "The Woodward Dream Cruise," 7 to 9 p.m.

WXYZ-TV/Channel 7's two hour live prime time broadcast features live reports from Action News staffers Carolyn Clifford, Mary Conway, Christy MacDonald, Dave Rexroth, Joanne Purtan and her father Oldies 104.3 WOMC morning man Dick Purtan. "Captain" Dennis Neubacher provides aerial coverage of the cruise from News Chopper 7.

Following WXYZ-TV/Channel 7's presentation of the Woodward Dream Cruise the celebration continues with "Cruisin' Classic TV: Prime Time," featuring classic episodes of "Green Acres," " Mr. Ed" and "The Adams Family." Live cut-ins from the Woodward Dream Cruise and Channel 7 personalities' memories of their favorite classic TV shows will also air throughout the two-hour special presentation. Continued coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise will culminate with live accounts of the evening's events on 11pm Action News.

WXYZ-TV's Action News will be providing bumper-to-bumper coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise throughout the weeks leading up to the event. The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world's largest single-automotive one-day celebration of the days for cruisin' and attracts over 1.5 million visitors; 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles; involves nine host cities; and supports over 30 local charities.
