TRANS-AM ROAD AMERICA STARTING GRID SHUFFLED
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 7, 2004) — Four cars were sent to the back of the grid for today's 35th Annual Trans-Am Rumble at the Road at Road America.
The cars of Johnny Miller (No. 64 Eaton Chevrolet Corvette) and Max Lagod (No. 83 Hypermax Chevrolet Corvette) had their qualifying times disallowed due to engine changes. The cars of Tomy Drissi (No. 5 Taxi – The Movie Jaguar XKR) and Bob Ruman (No. 23 McNichols/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette) were moved to the back for changing their tires.
Motorock Trans-Am Series rules stipulate cars must qualify and race with the same engine. Cars must also start the race on at least three of the four tires they used in qualifying.
Today's race is scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m. CDT. The race will be broadcast LIVE on HDNet, with tape-delayed highlights coverage on Spike TV's popular "Dangerous Curves" timeslot, Sunday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. (EDT, PDT).
The Motorock Trans-Am Series features closed-fendered, production-based, V-8-powered sports cars, competing on permanent road courses, and temporary street and airport circuits throughout North America. The Trans-Am Series is America's oldest continuously running road racing series and celebrates its 39th year of competition in 2004.
