Visteon Corporation Creates the Visteon Neighborhood to Enhance Product Innovation and Customer Service

Company consolidates from 13 sites to four

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., Aug. 6 -- The opening of Visteon Village completes Visteon Corporation's plans to create a consolidated "neighborhood" to enhance collaboration among employees, which will lead to a higher level of product innovation and customer service.

"This helps us take our creativity and innovation process to a high level," says Jim Orchard, executive vice president and president of North American operations. "The benefits we will realize from the Neighborhood will help us win in a highly competitive marketplace. The key to winning is getting there first through the speed collaboration and innovation brings us."

The consolidation demonstrates Visteon's ongoing plan to become more efficient. Visteon had 23 non-manufacturing facilities in Michigan when it was spun off from Ford Motor Company in 2000. That number is down to 13 today, and when the consolidation is complete, the Visteon Neighborhood will include just four key office sites. Cost savings and greater efficiencies will be achieved through the elimination of office leases and consolidation of operational teams needed at the previous sites, such as facilities management and reprographics. "Our annual carrying costs on the Village will be about the same as our lease and operating costs on the facilities we are in today," says Orchard.

The newest facility in the Neighborhood is Visteon Village, which is located eight miles from the geographic center of Visteon's Southeast Michigan employee base. In addition to 3,200 employees at the Village, the Neighborhood includes Visteon's Dearborn Campus, the Helm Street facility in Plymouth and the Rawsonville facility in Ypsilanti.

At the outset of the Neighborhood's design, a key area of focus was adjacency -- deciding where groups should be located to best support the business. To meet that objective, Visteon senior management conducted a workflow and adjacency study. This study helped them determine which groups needed to be located near one another to make the business run at optimum efficiency. A "fit up" process then determined how floor plans would be configured to support each group in the Village and re-configured in the three existing facilities.

"What we've done in creating the Visteon Neighborhood is to bring our employees closer together," says Orchard. "It has been a strategic process of placing the right teams with the right resources that make the most sense for our business and for our customers."
