> INDIANAPOLIS - Chevrolet has announced that a specially-designed 2005 Monte Carlo SS will pace the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 8. Chevrolet is the Official Pace Car of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and a regular fixture at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

> The Chevy Monte Carlo SS that will pace the field at the Brickyard 400 reflects a bold and contemporary theme. The vehicle features a custom-blend purple base over a two-tone paint scheme with red and orange accents creating a unique Brickyard 400 exterior graphics package complementing the official event logo. The front hood is distinguished by a large white Chevy bowtie with the race logo highlighted on each door panel.

> In addition to its striking design, the Chevy Monte Carlo SS pace car is complemented by a powerful V6 supercharged engine that develops 240 horsepower at 5,200 rpm. This is the same powertrain found in Monte Carlo SS production models. Features unique to the pace vehicle are its roof and deck lid spoilers as well as its custom 17-inch aluminum wheels.
