HyRadix Hydrogen Generator Passes Permitting Hurdle

DES PLAINES, Ill.--Aug. 5, 2004--The HyRadix Adeo(TM) hydrogen generator in service at SunLine Transit in Thousand Palms, California recently received final permitting approval from the Riverside County Fire Department. After extensive review and verification, the Riverside County Fire Department issued a letter stating that it "hereby permits the full operation of the hydrogen gas reformer." In contrast with numerous other hydrogen refueling station projects which have either been cancelled or seriously delayed due to permitting issues, this approval enables 24 hour unattended operation.

"The US Department of Energy has pointed to permitting as one of the major hurdles in implementing the hydrogen economy," stated Robert Gray, President and CEO of HyRadix. "This permit not only allows the Adeo to operate, but to operate unattended. This is a major step towards making hydrogen filling stations as easy to operate as consumer gas stations."

"The HyRadix reforming technology produces low-cost hydrogen as it is, but unattended operation helps us to reduce our hydrogen production costs even further," mentioned William Clapper, Jr., Executive Director of SunLine Services Group. SunLine is a world leader in the demonstration of hydrogen energy production and use for transportation. SunLine will blend the hydrogen from the HyRadix Adeo with compressed natural gas economically extending the usable life of their compressed natural gas bus fleet. In addition, the hydrogen will be used for fuel cell and hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicles. This project is funded by the Department of Energy through a grant from the State of Illinois and by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

The Adeo hydrogen generator uses proprietary high pressure auto-thermal reforming technology developed by HyRadix to convert natural gas or propane into high purity, ultra-low CO content hydrogen for the refueling of hydrogen vehicles. The Adeo unit forms the core of the first reformer-based hydrogen refueling station operating in the State of California.

HyRadix, based in Des Plaines, Illinois, is dedicated to the development and global commercialization of hydrogen generation technology for hydrogen vehicle refueling, industrial applications and for stationary fuel cells. Using an innovative combination of technology and equipment, HyRadix's hydrogen generating appliances produce hydrogen from the common infrastructure fuels natural gas and LPG.
