Polycarbon Awarded Supplier of the Year - Again
VALENCIA, Calif., Aug. 4, 2004 -- SGL Technic Polycarbon Division, an affiliate of the German based SGL Carbon Group , announced today that it has been awarded "Supplier of the Year" designation by Federal-Mogul Corporation. This is the second consecutive year that SGL Polycarbon has earned this prestigious honor. The annual selection by Federal-Mogul is given this year to only eight suppliers in Federal-Mogul's global supplier network (six in North America and two in Europe), which consists of more than 7,000 companies providing goods and services to Federal-Mogul. 282 suppliers were eligible to be considered for the current award based on total annual purchases by Federal-Mogul. The award is based on zero defects, on-time delivery, supplier support and cost saving recommendations.
In presenting the award today, Jeffrey Cwiek, Federal-Mogul's Manager of Purchasing from the firm's Southfield, Michigan corporate office, cited SGL Polycarbon's sustained record of outstanding performance in the areas of: product quality, delivery, customer service and cost saving recommendations. SGL Polycarbon achieved certified supplier status several years ago by manufacturing and shipping consistently high quality expanded graphite sealing materials that require no incoming receipt inspection. For years, Polycarbon has supplied aftermarket gasket material to the Skokie, Illinois facility and products for the Cadillac Northstar head gasket program at Athens, Alabama.
Accepting the award on behalf of the employees of Polycarbon, Division President Mark Kokosinski thanked Federal-Mogul for this award -- and particularly the long-standing business relationship that the two organizations have developed throughout the past several decades. Kokosinski also highlighted the accomplishments of the entire Polycarbon team -- including people based at Valencia, the manufacturing facility in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and the distribution center in Troy, Michigan -- as absolutely critical to the success of the business. "Without the wholehearted commitment of each employee, we would not have been able to provide the products and services that helped Federal-Mogul's business succeed," said Kokosinski. Adding to the recognition, Mr. Gernot Hochegger, Managing Director of SGL Technologies, sent a message of congratulations from SGL's Wiesbaden, Germany head office thanking Federal-Mogul for the award and praising the "spirit of cooperation and dedication evident throughout the Polycarbon organization."
