* Chrysler Brand Year-Over-Year Sales Increase 17 Percent, Sets July Sales Record * Chrysler 300 Sales Surpass 12,000 units for Third Consecutive Month * Jeep(R) Liberty Sales of 17,168 Units Sets New Sales Record for July

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 3 -- Driven by the momentum of positive retail sales results, Chrysler Group reported sales of 189,619 units, an increase of 2 percent (6 percent unadjusted) compared to July 2003 sales of 178,408 units. Sales are reported on a day-rate adjusted basis.

"With the Chrysler 300 leading the way, our July retail performance once again outperformed our retail results of last year," said Gary Dilts, Chrysler Group Senior Vice President - Sales. "Nine of the past ten months we have achieved year-over-year sales increases on the strength of our new products."

Chrysler brand sales set a new sales record for July by posting sales of 48,055 units, an increase of 17 percent (21 percent unadjusted) over July 2003 when 39,676 units were sold. The Chrysler 300 flagship sedan led the Chrysler brand with sales of 12,593 units, and posting the third consecutive month of sales in excess of 12,000 units.

"The Chrysler 300 is the most talked about car in America right now," said Dilts. "It is attracting customers across all demographic segments. You can't buy this kind of popularity and appeal."

The company is now preparing to launch the all-new Grand Cherokee, scheduled to arrive in showrooms this fall. Jeep brand posted a sales decline to 38,173 units, a decline of 6 percent (3 percent decline unadjusted) over July 2003 sales of 39,241 units. Jeep Liberty set a sales record for July with 17,168 units sold, an improvement of 19 percent (24 unadjusted) compared to July 2003. The icon of the Jeep(R) brand, Jeep Wrangler, posted sales of 7,323 units, an increase of 3 percent (7 percent unadjusted) compared to July 2003 sales of 6,840 units. Grand Cherokee sales declined 29 percent (26 percent decline unadjusted) as the company makes room for the all-new Grand Cherokee.

Sales of Dodge brand products posted flat sales of 103,391 units (4 percent increase unadjusted) over July 2003 sales of 99,491 units. The Dodge Durango posted sales of 12,004 units for July, an increase of 21 percent (25 percent unadjusted) over July 2003 sales of 9,588 units. Dodge Dakota sales increased 13 percent (17 percent unadjusted) to 11,191 units, compared to July 2003 sales of 9,539 units.

"The economy is showing some signs of improvement," said Dilts. "That, along with historically low inflation rates, improving income levels and the abundance of great new products like the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum, make this a great time to put a new car in the garage."

Chrysler Group finished the month with 530,022 units of inventory, or a 75-day supply.
