Volkswagen Reports July Sales - Third-Best Sales Results of the Year

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 3, 2004 -- Volkswagen of America, Inc. reported sales of 25,560 for the month of July compared to last year's sales of 25,674.

The July figure represents the third-best sales month this year for the German automaker in the U.S. and a marked jump from its June 2004 figure of 22,692.

Sales of Volkswagen's advanced diesel equipped models continued to trend upward for the year. Volkswagen sold 2,529 this past July as compared to July of 2003 when it sold 2,277 TDIs, representing an 11 percent increase. For the year, Volkswagen's total diesel sales are up 17.4 percent.
