Shanghai GM's July Sales Down

SHANGHAI, Aug 2, 2004; Reuters reported that General Motors Corp said on Monday that its flagship Shanghai venture sold 19,660 vehicles in July, an 18.2 percent fall compared to the previous month but 20.3 percent higher than the same period a year ago. No further details were immediately available.

Earlier on Monday, rival Volkswagen AG's Shanghai plant said it sold 28,060 cars last month, up 39.7 percent on June, after being outsold by Shanghai GM for the first time in June.
