                        Franchitti Puts ArcaEx Car Through
                        Preparations For Michigan Indy 400

BROOKLYN, Mich. (July 30, 2004) - Dario Franchitti recorded a speed of
213.093 miles per hour (33.7880 seconds) during IRL IndyCar Series practice Friday
at Michigan International Speedway, as teams and drivers began preparation for
Sunday afternoon's running of the Michigan Indy 400.
Concentrating on finding a race setup, Franchitti registered a total of 68 laps in
the #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone, many of which were amongst a pack of
cars which at times ran three-wide through the 18-degree banked turns at Michigan
International Speedway.
Andretti Green Racing teammate Tony Kanaan topped the speed chart with a
speed of 214.797 miles per hour (33.5200 seconds). Kosuke Matsuura was second
with a speed of 214.414 miles per hour (33.5799 seconds), while Tomas Scheckter
was third fastest at 214.277 miles per hour (33.6013 seconds). Buddy Rice (214.276
miles per hour, 33.6015 seconds) and Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dan Wheldon
(213.550 miles per hour, 33.7157 seconds) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Practice for Sunday's race continues Saturday morning, followed by qualifying
at 11 a.m. (EDT).

Dario Franchitti, #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We are searching for a balance on the ArcaEx car. We were able to run in
packs today, which is good. We'll go back and look at the data, both ours as well as
from my teammates, and hopefully we'll be able to improve for tomorrow. Tomorrow
is more about qualifying than anything, so we'll have to change our focus. But, this
place is all about getting a good car for the race, so we'll have some decisions to
make."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing:
"The ArcaEx car was pretty well balanced. We haven't made a lot of
improvements to the car, but we found out what not to do. Tomorrow is another day.
The Andretti Green Racing cars have been running good and fast and the Honda
engines are powerful, so that's good."
