Toyota's Alabama Plant Featured in Company's Latest Corporate Ad
NEW YORK, July 29 -- Toyota Motor North America, Inc. today announced that Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama (TMMAL) will be featured in the second print execution of its new corporate advertising campaign.
Entitled "Good Business," the campaign emphasizes Toyota's long-term commitment to the U.S. market, which has resulted in the creation of 190,000 jobs including dealers and suppliers.
"We chose to focus on TMMAL because it is one of our newest plants, and a fine example of the tremendous growth in our U.S. operations," said Dennis Cuneo, senior vice president of Toyota Motor North America. "This growth is not limited strictly to manufacturing, but to all areas of our business, including sales and marketing and research and design. Our new campaign emphasizes that theme, and sends a strong message that our investment, along with our respect for local communities and the environment, will continue over the long-term."
Located in Huntsville, TMMAL commenced operations in 2003 and currently produces 120,000 V8 engines per year for Toyota's Tundra pickup truck. Employment currently stands at 350 team members, but will grow to 500 next year following an expansion.
The headline of the ad featuring TMMAL reads, "It's an engine for economic growth." The accompanying photo depicts team member Reggie Jones of the plant's Quality Control Department, surrounded by engines. The ad copy also mentions Toyota's Indiana truck plant as well as plants currently under construction in San Antonio, Texas and Jackson, Tennessee. A second version featuring TMMAL team member Shane Perry will also appear.
The first advertisement, which launched earlier this week, features Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas. Upcoming advertisements will include Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. in Torrance, California, site of the largest "green" building complex in the United States, as well as the following manufacturing facilities:
* Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (Princeton) * Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (Georgetown) * Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia (Buffalo)
"The headline in our latest ad refers not just to TMMAL's engines and components, but to the people who are building them," said Paul Bernasconi, creative director at Oasis Advertising, which created the campaign. "In Alabama and throughout the U.S., it's the local team members who are fueling Toyota's economic growth."
The campaign will run in over forty national publications, including USA Today, The Wall St. Journal, The New York Times, Time and others. In addition, the ads will appear in local business publications in the communities surrounding some of the featured operations.
A member of the American business community since 1957, Toyota currently has eight manufacturing plants in the U.S., which built over one million vehicles in 2003. Toyota and its suppliers and dealers are responsible for more than 190,000 jobs in the U.S. and the company's total investment in the U.S. market now exceeds $12 billion.
