Media Advisory: Local Fans Celebrate the Mustang's 40th Birthday, See 2005 Pony Car, July 31

WHAT: More than 500 local Mustang enthusiasts, with 200 classic Mustangs, celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Pony Car, and the Portland debut of the all-new 2005 Mustang.

  WHEN/WHERE:  Saturday, July 31; 100 Columbia Street, Vancouver, Wash.

  WHO/WHERE:
  10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The Mustangs Unlimited car club will host the celebration, which is open to the public. Portland Race for the Cure volunteers will be on site, taking registrations for the Sept. 19 race. Organizers hope the race, sponsored by Ford, will raise more than $2 million for the fight against breast cancer.

12 p.m.

Photo opportunity: At noon, the all-new 2005 Mustang will drive into the show, under police escort. Mark Rushbrook, Mustang Vehicle Development Manager will be on hand to answer media and enthusiasts' questions about the new model until 4 p.m.

SUMMARY: Across the country, enthusiasts are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang, and the introduction of the all-new 2005 model. The 2005 Mustang is one of 40 new products Ford will launch this fall, along with the flagship Five Hundred sedan and the Freestyle that bridges the gap between sport-utilities and traditional sedans.
