Florida County Again Specifies puraDYN Bypass Oil Filtration Systems on New Equipment Purchases; Miami-Dade Expects $3,500 Savings for Each Automated Garbage Truck
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.--July 28, 2004--puraDYN Filter Technologies Incorporated (AMEX:PFT) announced today that Miami-Dade County, Florida, has approved the purchase of 75 automated garbage trucks outfitted with puraDYN(R) systems to add to its existing fleet of 2000 puraDYN(R)-equipped pieces of equipment.Approval was received at the county commissioners' meeting, following a debate regarding the selection of a new automated garbage truck. After considerable discussion, the consensus was to specify the Caterpillar-powered Peterbilt trucks which will be factory-equipped with the puraDYN(R) systems. These trucks were recognized as the ideal solution due to the significant benefits of the puraDYN(R) system, primarily, the large savings impact on the waste disposal department's budget. Like all County commissioner meetings, this meeting was recorded for public review.
Ronald C. Kleintop, Fleet Service Manager for the Miami-Dade General Services Administration, said the puraDYN(R) systems will save more than $3,500 over the life of each truck, which he estimates at seven years, when taking into consideration the cost of lubricating oil and oil changes. The Peterbilt trucks with Caterpillar engines will require just one oil change a year, since the puraDYN(R) system continuously cleans the oil and permits safe oil drain interval extensions. The extended oil drain interval reduces the purchase of lubricating oil by approximately 23,000 gallons over the trucks' seven-year life cycle. The other bidder, without puraDYN(R), would require oil changes every 60 days, according to the procurement office, which would entail not only the cost of the oil, but the downtime and labor involved with oil changes.
Kleintop stated the savings for the purchase of oil when using the puraDYN(R) bypass oil filtration system, calculated at $3,500, could be even greater, since the bids came in almost a year ago and the savings do not reflect the significant increase of oil prices of 2004.
Kleintop added, "The specific bid asked for a C-10 or C-12 Caterpillar engine...because it offered a five-year warranty and was willing to work with us on the puraDYN(R) filtration system." Kleintop continued, "The system was new to me when I came to the county...I found it to be an amazing product. It works very well."
Kevin G. Kroger, President and COO of puraDYN Filter Technologies Inc., said, "Miami-Dade has been a long-time valued customer of puraDYN. Over the years, they have seen first hand how our system has consistently provided added value and performed to safely extend oil drain intervals and reduce their operating costs. They currently operate in excess of 2,000 pieces of equipment, including fire apparatus, equipped with our systems. This opportunity clearly shows that the puraDYN(R) product is gaining recognition and acceptance by qualified customers."
The puraDYN(R) bypass oil filtration systems work with the full flow filter to reduce solid contaminants in engine oil to below one micron with the use of its patent-pending CGP(R) filter element; to evaporate liquid contaminants; and to replenish the base additives so as to maintain the proper total base number (TBN) and viscosity of the oil. By maintaining continuously clean oil, oil drain intervals are dramatically and safely extended thus reducing new oil purchases and waste oil disposal costs.
