Dario Franchitti Facts Michigan will mark Franchitti's 14th career IndyCar Series start. Franchitti earned his first IndyCar Series victory at Milwaukee on July 25. Franchitti's win at Milwaukee was his second oval-track win of his career. Franchitti's winning effort at Milwaukee marked the second victory by the ArcaEx team, as they also won at Kansas in July, 2003, with driver Bryan Herta at the wheel. Franchitti has recorded three top-five finishes this season (Milwaukee - 1st, Texas - 2nd, Kansas - 4th). Franchitti has three top-five finishes among five previous Indy-style starts at Michigan, with a best finish of second (2001). Franchitti earned his first MBNA Pole Award when he qualified on pole position at Texas. Franchitti has 11 major open-wheel racing victories and 12 career pole positions. Andretti Green Racing Team Facts Andretti Green Racing entries have won six of nine IndyCar Series events this season. AGR has led 1,065 of 1,855 total laps run in 2004 (57.4 percent). Andretti Green Racing has had at least one car in the top five in 15 consecutive IndyCar Series events dating back to Aug. 10, 2003, which stands as the longest active streak in the series. AGR has placed two cars in the top five of an event 14 times, including seven of the past eight events this season. Andretti Green Racing won all three night events on the 2004 IndyCar Series schedule (Tony Kanaan - Texas, Nashville; Dan Wheldon - Richmond). AGR has won every IndyCar Series event thus far in 2004 held at tracks shorter than 1.5 miles in length (Kanaan - Phoenix, Nashville; Wheldon - Richmond; Franchitti - Milwaukee). Andretti Green drivers occupy two of the top three spots in the IndyCar Series point standings [Kanaan - 357 (1st), Wheldon - 276 (3rd)]. Andretti Green won both the pole (Wheldon, March 20; Wheldon, April 16; Franchitti, June 10) and race (Kanaan, March 21; Wheldon, April 17; Kanaan, June 12) at Phoenix, Twin Ring Motegi and Texas. All four Andretti Green entries finished in the top 10 at Kansas, marking the first time since Sept. 15, 1996 (Las Vegas) that an IRL IndyCar Series team has accomplished that feat.
