Frontline 2004 -- Set to Be the Largest Event for Supply Chain Vendors' Latest Real-World Solutions

WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass.--July 27, 2004--

IBM, Intermec, Philips Semiconductor, and More Than 120 Leading Suppliers Will Demonstrate RFID, Auto-ID, and Mobile Solutions September 13-15 in Chicago

Advanstar Technology Group, a division of Advanstar Communications, Inc., will bring together the best-of-breed automatic identification (Auto-ID) and supply chain organizations at this year's Frontline Solutions 2004 conference and exposition. IBM, Intermec, Philips Semiconductors, Alien Technology, Datamax, Matrics, Northrop Grumman Information Technology, Savi Technology, and VeriSign are among the vendors slated to showcase the latest real-world solutions in radio frequency identification (RFID); electronic product code (EPC); bar code; industrial mobile and wireless; and supply chain efficiency solutions.

Taking place September 13-15 at the Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois, Frontline 2004 brings together key decision makers from major industries, including: manufacturing; retail and consumer packaged goods; government and defense; as well as pharmaceutical and healthcare. These supply chain professionals converge to form valuable business partnerships and learn about new technology solutions that provide an optimal return on investment.

"Attendees are looking to build smarter supply chains by making intelligent purchasing decisions," said Kerry Gumas, vice president of Advanstar Technology Group. "Only one event covers the entire technology spectrum from EPC to RFID and interoperability, in an open forum. Frontline 2004 exhibitors represent the best in RFID, Auto-ID, and mobile supply chain solutions. This event is all about real supply chain implementations, real-world examples, and best-of-breed technologies."

Knowing the importance for users to see solutions first-hand and understand how they were successfully implemented, Frontline 2004 offers numerous solution-focused case study sessions throughout the conference. Examples of case study conference sessions at this year's event include:

-- LeapFrog Enterprises and ENSYNC: "Design Considerations for
        Case and Item Order Picking"
The mismatch between supply chain requirements and facility
layout and operational practices result in inefficient and
costly fulfillment operations. LeapFrog Enterprises and ENSYNC
partner to address many of the gaps in current parcel
fulfillment layout and operations to better meet the
requirements of the modern supply chain.

-- Automotive Industry Action Group: "Tire Tagging and RFID
        Within the Auto Industry"
The tire recall situation of 2000 generated the very first
RFID Tracking and Traceability Standard for Items, a standard
developed and published in just 12 months. The Automotive
Industry Action Group reviews the history of the development
of the RFID Tracking and Traceability Standard for Items and
gives direction regarding how organizations can use it
        effectively.

-- British Columbia Milk Marketing Board: "Taking Field Service
to the Next Level: Optimizing Milk Delivery with Automated
        Data Capture"
Delays in financial administration, late payments, manual data
entry errors, and excess paperwork are all obstacles in the
logistics of field service transportation and distribution.
However, today's automated data capture route management
technology can help field service organizations improve their
operations and excel with efficient, accurate, and on-time
deliveries. The British Columbia Milk Marketing Board
discusses the challenges the Board faced with a paper-based
system to manage milk pickup and transportation from 700 dairy
        farms throughout British Columbia.

-- United Airlines: "Regulatory Compliance and Baggage Tracking
        with RFID"
The United States Transportation Security Administration
estimates that the airline industry will have to spend
billions over the next ten years to upgrade baggage-screening
systems in order to comply with new security laws. United
Airlines delves into RFID's ability to improve baggage sorting
and tracking and to streamline check-in systems. The airline
will also discuss the use of RFID tags in cargo and mail
        tracking.
