Suzuki Expands Its Presenting Sponsorship of Heisman Trophy With 'Expert-Level' Online Trivia Tournament
Fans Who Logon to www.voteheisman.com Can Cast a Counted Vote and Participate in a Heisman Trivia Contest to Win a Trip to 2004 Heisman Dinner and Trivia Tournament Finals
BREA, Calif., July 26 -- American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) launches its third year as presenting sponsor of the Heisman Memorial Trophy by giving fans more ways to experience the history, legends and lore of college sports' most prestigious award. This year's fans will not only have the chance to cast a counted vote for their favorite Heisman candidate (otherwise limited to sports media and Heisman Trophy winners) but test their Heisman knowledge against other sports experts and Heisman winners to win a trip to New York City to attend the 70th Annual Heisman Dinner and compete in the Suzuki Heisman Trivia Tournament finals.
For the third consecutive year, the Automotive Operations division of ASMC has partnered with the Heisman Trophy Trust (HTT) to present the Heisman Memorial Trophy.
"America's interest in everything-Heisman grows bigger every year," said Albert Ferrer, ASMC's automotive consumer promotions manager. "We want to keep that excitement going by continuing to give fans their only opportunity to cast a vote that counts toward the selection of the Trophy's winner. Plus, new this year is a purposely challenging Suzuki Heisman Trivia Tournament in which fans can play for a chance to compete against other college football trivia finalists during official Heisman week festivities in New York City."
Beginning today, sports fans can logon to www.voteheisman.com to compete in the Suzuki Heisman Trivia Tournament. Players with the highest scores in July/August, September, October and November will travel to New York City to attend the 70th Annual Heisman Dinner and face-off in a trivia finals event during Heisman week for the grand prize -- a new 2005 Suzuki automobile or SUV of their choice. The grand prize winner may select a Forenza Wagon, Reno, Verona, Forenza sedan, Aerio SX, Aerio sedan, XL-7 or Grand Vitara.
According to Ferrer, Suzuki's partnership with the HTT has been designed to maximize opportunities for fans -- especially the most ardent college football followers -- to experience the Heisman Trophy. As a result, the Suzuki Heisman Trivia Tournament is intended to challenge even the most seasoned sports trivia buffs.
"We've created the ultimate Heisman trivia contest -- one that offers competition on a number of different levels," he explained. "Friends can compete against friends, schools against schools and conferences against conferences. In some cases, players can even go head-to-head with former Heisman winners. Questions at various skill levels will be updated weekly to keep fans coming back -- and referring the tournament to their sports-loving friends -- all season long."
Fans will also be able to logon to www.voteheisman.com on a weekly basis to vote for their favorite player. This is the only place where fans can cast an official vote that will be counted in the final Heisman ballots.
The Heisman Trophy, awarded by the HTT to the most outstanding collegiate football player of the year, will be presented on December 11, 2004 at the NY Hilton.
