Butch Miller to Make 300th ASA Start at IRP

            PENDLETON, Ind. (July 26, 2004) - Butch Miller has accomplished so much in his ASA National Tour career,
            and the July 31 Meijer 200 presented by SK Hand Tool race at Indianapolis Raceway Park will see him reach
            another milestone as he makes his 300th  career start in the American Speed Association.

            "Actually, if someone were to say 300, I'd have to say 'I think I started more than that,'" Miller said with a
            chuckle. "That's surprising though. I guess I don't keep track of numbers like that, but that's pretty neat."

            During his ASA career, Miller has had plenty numbers that he does keep track of; numbers like 50 wins, 50
            poles (the all-time leader), three championships, and 11,076 laps led in competition.

            Though Miller has made a name for himself in the upper tiers of NASCAR, including a win in the NASCAR
            Craftsman Truck Series, he returned to the ASA National Tour where he feels most comfortable.

            "They welcomed me back, and that was pretty neat," Miller said of his homecoming to the Indiana-based
            series. "On top of that, when I was able to come back ASA racing, Ken Smith (owner of SS Racing, Miller's
            team) gave me a number one, top-notch car. And whenever you can get in one of those, that's the direction
            you have to go. ASA is really, really tough, but I've got a really good gun to fight with."

            Miller won the July 15, 1995 Craftsman Truck Series race at Colorado National Speedway by .001-seconds
            over Mike Skinner. This remains the closest finish in NCTS history. He was also the Most Popular Driver in the
            series that season. In his career, Miller also made starts in both the NASCAR Nextel Cup series and NASCAR
            Busch Series.

            Now back driving in the American Speed Association, Miller comes into the Indianapolis race sixth in points. At
            the last event, on July 17 at Madison International Raceway in Oregon, Wis., Miller ran strong early in the
            race, leading for much of the opening stages of the event. Unfortunately, he was involved in an accident on pit
            road during the first round of pit stops that damaged the sway bar on his No. 52 Timber Wolf Chevrolet and
            likely took away his chances of winning the race.

            As he was leaving his pit stall, Kevin Cywinski's car dropped off the jack and pulled out in front of Peter
            Cozzolino who was turning into his pits. Cozzolino braked hard to avoid Cywinski, causing Miller to stop
            unexpectedly and he was rammed from behind by Reed Sorenson. The accordion-effect caused extensive
            damage to the front of Sorenson's Dodge and ended his day early.

            "It wasn't Pete's fault," Miller said of the pit road incident. "Kevin's crew dropped the car and he pulled out in
            front of Pete. Pete had no choice, but to stop or wreck his race car. Our car was never as good after that.
            Before that we could run on the outside, but not after that."

            With just seven races remaining in the 2004 season, Miller can't afford to have many more problems if he
            hopes to remain in contention for a fourth ASA National Tour championship.

            "It just seems it has been one thing after another, but there is no doubt in my mind that things will get better,"
            Miller admitted about his 2004 season struggles. "I have a great team behind me and they are still geared
            toward the championship at the end of the year."


            The July 31 Meijer 200 presented by SK Hand Tool will be a racing double-header highlighting both the ASA
            National Tour cars competing in a 200-lap event and the ASA Late Model Series racing 100-green flag laps on
            the quick 0.686-mile oval in Clermont, Ind. This is the only Indiana event on the 2004 schedule for the ASA
            National Tour.
