Franchitti, ArcaEx Begin Practice At Milwaukee

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (July 23, 2004) - Dario Franchitti placed the #27 ArcaEx
car among the top five during today's practice sessions at The Milwaukee Mile as
drivers and teams began preparation for Sunday afternoon's running of the Indy
Racing League® IndyCar® Series Menards A.J. Foyt Indy 225.
Franchitti was among several IndyCar Series drivers to have tested at the
nation's oldest active race track on June 16th. Across the board, that test session
proved challenging for the four-car Andretti Green Racing team, which leads the
series with five wins in the first eight races. But, Franchitti showed that progress had
been made as he recorded a fast speed of 165.015 miles per hour (22.1435
seconds) in the #27 ArcaEx Honda-powered Dallara. He posted his best lap during
the afternoon session, having turned a combined total of 65 practice laps during the
day's two practice sessions.
Helio Castroneves topped the chart with a speed of 165.015 miles per hour
(21.9922 seconds). He was followed by Scott Dixon at 165.799 miles per hour
(22.0388 seconds) while teammates Vitor Meira (165.270 miles per hour, 22.1093
seconds) and Buddy Rice (165.241 miles per hour, 22.1132 seconds) were third and
fourth, respectively.
Practice for Sunday's race continues Saturday morning, followed by qualifying
at 2 p.m. (EDT).

"It wasn't a bad day. We struggled a little bit this morning, but were certainly
better than when we tested here, and we made some more progress this afternoon.
The ArcaEx car still has a little way to go, but overall, I'm happy with the day."
