Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Continues Acquisition Program - Chicago-Style

TULSA, Okla., July 22 -- Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. today announced its corporate operations subsidiary has signed an agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of the Thrifty Car Rental franchise operation serving the Chicago O'Hare International and Midway airports. The acquisition, effective September 1, 2004, continues DTG's corporate growth strategy of acquiring franchisees in key U.S. markets. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"We are extremely pleased with the progress of our acquisition program," Gary L. Paxton, President and Chief Executive Officer, said. "Our plan is to operate larger U.S. and Canadian locations corporately and we've made significant headway. This Chicago acquisition is of particular importance with O'Hare International's ranking as the world's second busiest airport and Southwest Airlines' strong presence at Midway."

According to Paxton, franchise acquisitions have been a key driver for the company's performance. "Since unveiling our growth strategy in December 2002, we have acquired 30 key markets in the U.S. and Canada and opened eight new Dollar or Thrifty locations adding in approximately 21,000 vehicles, on an annualized basis, to the company's rental fleet," Paxton said.
