Duraswitch PushGate Selected for Flow Meter Controls in LP Delivery Vehicles
PHOENIX, July 22 -- Duraswitch licensee Wilson-Hurd, a Wisc.-based switch manufacturer, has begun production of control panels using PushGate(R) technology for use in liquid propane (LP) delivery vehicles.
"Our customer was interested in making a change in their control panels," said Greg Pellot, vice president of sales and marketing, Wilson-Hurd. "Comparing PushGate and membrane switches, the advantages of the Duraswitch technology won the business."
The control panels will be used in LP delivery vehicles to monitor and control the flow of LP gas.
"Drivers of the vehicles are often wearing gloves while operating the flow meters, so tactile feel was an important factor. PushGate technology provides superior feedback over membrane switches," Pellot continued.
Duraswitch's patented PushGate pushbutton technology offers significant design and reliability improvements over discrete mechanical switches and flat panel dome technology. Using the simple combination of a metal actuator and a permanent magnet, PushGate provides superior tactile feedback that does not degrade over time or use. Because it uses the natural force of magnetism instead of flexing domes or springs, PushGate is substantially more durable than conventional switch technologies.
Tim Kuhn, vice president business development, Duraswitch, added, "The keypads used on a control panel like this are often an overlooked item. But if the keypads fail over time, as many switch technologies do, the whole delivery system becomes inoperable. Companies do not want the interruption due to down time, and the added expense of repairs."
