GreenMan Technologies Acquires American Tire Disposal

LYNNFIELD, Mass--July 21, 2004--GreenMan Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: GRN) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of all tire collection operations of American Tire Disposal, Inc. ("ATD"), a southern California based company in the business of collecting and marketing scrap tires. GreenMan will consolidate ATD's business into its existing California operations. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Jim Dodenhoff, GreenMan's California Vice President stated, "This acquisition firmly establishes GreenMan's position as a collector of scrap tires in the Southern California marketplace. The addition of these collection operations will both complement our crumb rubber manufacturing business and diversify our overall business providing a platform for continued growth."
