Johnson Controls Appoints Dr. Beda-Helmut Bolzenius Executive Vice President and General Manager of Europe

BURSCHEID, Germany, July 20 -- Dr. Beda-Helmut Bolzenius has been named Johnson Controls Executive Vice President and General Manager, Europe, with responsibility for the company's automotive seating, interiors and electronics business.

The announcement was made by John Fiori, Executive Vice President and President, Johnson Controls International; and Keith Wandell, President of the company's Automotive Group.

Dr. Bolzenius, age 48, will join Johnson Controls from Robert Bosch GmbH where he most recently served as President of the Energy and Body Systems Division. Throughout his 18-year career with Bosch, Dr. Bolzenius served in a variety of senior management positions including President of Bosch Mexico; and President of the K9 (Energy Systems) division.

The appointment is effective November 1, 2004.

He will be based at Johnson Controls Automotive Group European headquarters in Burscheid, Germany.

Dr. Bolzenius earned a doctorate in Physics from Bonn University.
