Active Recognition Technologies Launches V-Metrics Surveillance License Plate Recognition Software
PHOENIX, July 19 -- Active Recognition Technologies (ART) has launched V-Metrics(TM) Surveillance, a license plate recognition (LPR) software.
V-Metrics Surveillance enhances the security of governmental, commercial and residential properties by automatically identifying that a vehicle is entering or exiting the facility, reading the license plate and instantly comparing that information to a categorized "hot list." The surveillance features can also operate on vehicles traveling at high speeds making V-Metrics ideal for stolen vehicle detection, Amber alert notification or any law enforcement application involving vehicles. If matched, an alarm can immediately be sent to an external device to initiate appropriate action. The visual record is also kept in a database for future retrieval.
"Set up in any facility, this software allows security managers to receive real-time information on who is entering or exiting their premises," said Arthur Lawida, CEO, Active Recognition Technologies.
"Because V-Metrics creates a visual record database, security managers can investigate any incident involving a vehicle by simply providing a full or partial license plate to the system," Lawida continued. "For example, you could ask the system to find all license plates starting with '123' that entered between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. An exact, visual response would be available in seconds rather than scrolling through hours of taped images."
V-Metrics software can be integrated into most security or front-end surveillance systems. It is currently installed at major casinos and public parking garages. Target markets for the software include facility security and access, toll booths, entrance/exit gates, and law enforcement applications.
Unlike most LPR software, V-Metrics is designed to operate in North America, where plate styles, fonts, size and spacing cannot be predetermined. V-Metrics Surveillance requires no additional lighting, works at high speeds and in any weather condition. The software can read both reflective and non-reflective plates and incorporates video recognition technology that determines both the presence of a vehicle and the correct image to use so that ground loops can be completely eliminated from the vehicle detection process thus dramatically reducing the cost of installation and maintenance.
V-Metrics is sold exclusively through resellers and is designed to be integrated with other software programs or hardware systems. OEM and reseller opportunities are available worldwide.
