Sunday, July 18, 2004
JOLIET, Ill. - Bill Reichert in Top Alcohol Dragster and Jay Payne

straight to the winner's circle this weekend at the Chicagoland Dodge
Dealers NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Route 66 Raceway.

Reichert, driving his Bars Leaks sponsored dragster, got a bit of a
break in round one when No. 8 qualifier Ed Schmeeckle broke giving the
Owosso, Mich., racer the win with a sub-par run of 6.798 seconds at
264.13 mph. Reichert went on to defeat David Wells in a semi-final
match-up and then Ken Perry in the Final.

Reichert clocked in at 5.430 seconds at 268.76 mph to Perry's

Raceway, October 2, during the CarQuest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.

Payne, of Claremont, Calif., took out Steve Addleman and Mick
Synder in rounds one and two then faced off with Danny Townsend in the
funny car final. Payne ousted Townsend with a lap of 5.658 seconds at
256.50 mph to Townsend's 6.047, 246.80. The win gave the current
Lucas Oil National Points leader his fourth win of the season.
