Drive for Diversity Launches 2005 Recruiting Efforts
Experience Will Help Driver Candidates, While New Faces Also Welcomed in Crew Training Program
CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 15 -- "Drive for Diversity" is now formally accepting resumes and information from experienced minority and female drivers and interested minority and female pit crew candidates to be part of its development program for 2005. Interested candidates can submit materials to Access Marketing & Communications from now through Aug. 31, 2004.
Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a testing and evaluation combine this fall at a location to-be-determined. Drivers will showcase their skills in hopes of receiving an opportunity to compete for an established team in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series next season. Meanwhile, qualified potential crew members selected at the combine will receive "over- the-wall" pit crew training and instruction from 5 OFF 5 ON Race Team Performance, with placement opportunities to various NASCAR Series teams.
Access President/CEO Greg Calhoun says that the crew member opportunity is one which should not be missed by minority and female race fans who have dreamed of going "over the wall." Calhoun: "If you have ever wanted to be a part of NASCAR, we're offering the opportunity to be a member of one of the most vital positions in racing: a race-day pit crew member. And the great part is that previous pit crew experience is not necessary. We are trying to find talent from all walks of life -- athletes, mechanics, anyone."
"Drive for Diversity" is a long-term initiative aimed at developing a steady pipeline of well-trained and supported minority and female drivers and crew members. In 2004, five drivers competed in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series, while six crew members participated in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Busch Series. Program partners for 2004 include Centrix Financial, Domino's Pizza, Kodak, Husqvarna, Lowe's Home Improvement, MBNA, Miller Brewing Co., the National Guard, Nextel and Sunoco.
Interested drivers should send resumes, videotapes, on-track photos, race results, references and other supporting materials to: "Drive for Diversity"; Access Marketing & Communications; 401 N. Tryon St., 10th Floor; Charlotte, N.C. 28202. Interested crew members may also send their information to the address above. Resumes and supporting materials can also be e-mailed to driver@drivefordiversity.com or crew@drivefordiversity.com.
