Bikers Raise Record Amount For The Kentucky Southeast Indiana Chapter Of The National Multiple Sclerosis Society

July 14, 2004 -- Georgetown, KY -- The 2004 Toyota MS 150 Bike the Bluegrass (June 5-6) attracted 320 participants including 39 team members from Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK). The annual fundraising event not only raises money for multiple sclerosis research and local programs, but also increases awareness of MS symptoms and the important new treatments now available.

Every year, more than 70,000 riders participate in one of more than 100 tours across the US and pedal more than 10.5 million miles. The Toyota MS 150 Bike the Bluegrass was a two-day, 150-mile adventure through some of the world's most beautiful horse country. The tour started and finished at the TMMK Visitor Center in Georgetown, Kentucky. This year's event raised over $214,000, the most ever for the Kentucky Southeast Indiana Chapter.

The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to end the devastating effects of MS. The Society and its network of chapters nationwide promote research, educate, advocate on critical issues, and organize a wide range of programs including support for the newly diagnosed and those living with MS over time.

The Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter provides services to 109 Kentucky counties, as well as Clark and Floyd counties in Southern Indiana and offers a variety of services to both individuals and families who are coping with the changing lifestyles created by this disease. The Chapter program staff work with a network of volunteers to provide much needed opportunities to the 4,000 clients serviced in the chapter area.
