News from the United Steelworkers of America: NAACP to Join Steelworkers' Protest of Bridgestone-Firestone's Plan to Outsource American Jobs

--News From USWA: Negotiations stalled by Company's Refusal to Invest in U.S. Plants
WHO:   Members of the United Steelworkers of America (USWA) and the
       NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored
       People)

WHAT:  A rally/demonstration

WHEN:  5:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14

WHERE: Firestone MasterCare Center, 3161 N. 32nd Street (Shuttle
       buses will begin transporting participants from the front of
       the Pennsylvania Convention Center to the Firestone Center at
       4 p.m.)

WHY:   It has been 15 months since the expiration date of contracts
       for 7,000 workers at eight Bridgestone-Firestone plants across
       the U.S. Despite profitability, the company is demanding
       massive concessions and is refusing to make any commitments to
       make any capital investments expenditures to keep the plants
       globally competitive. The company's plan is to outsource good
       paying American jobs and service the North American market
       with imports.
