Force Protection, Inc. Names Mark V. Edwards Vice President, Manufacturing

CHARLESTON, S.C.--July 13, 2004--Michael Watts, Chief Executive Officer of Force Protection, Inc. (OTCBB:FRCP) announced today he has appointed Mark V. Edwards as Vice President, Manufacturing, a new position for the company. Edwards will drive the day-to-day manufacturing of Force Protection's line of mine and ballistic-protected vehicles, more specifically, he will ensure the facility maximizes production efficiencies while maintaining optimal quality control.

Edwards has more than 18 years experience in both automotive and military transport equipment industries. Prior to joining Force Protection, Edwards was Vice President, Operations for Ducommun Aerostructures, where he was responsible for all aerostructure manufacturing for the Boeing C-17 and Chinook programs, as well as Sikorsky's BlackHawk/NavalHawk program.

Interestingly, Edwards worked on the C-17 program for more than 12 months. This is the aircraft tasked with transporting Force Protection vehicles to theaters around the world.

"His unique combination of automotive and military transport experience will augment the efficiency of our operations as well as ensuring the continued superior quality of our vehicles."

Before joining Ducommun, Edwards held several senior executive positions with Newport Corporation of Irvine, California; Giddings and Lewis of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; Plastic Trim, Inc. of Dayton, Ohio; and Koch Industries, also of Dayton.

He is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Edwards earned a B.S. degree in mathematics and chemistry from Wright State University in 1989; and an MBA from Pepperdine University in 2003.
