Keynotes Highlight OSGi Alliance 2004 World Congress; Senior Technology Executives to Highlight OSGi-based Deployments in Mobile, Automotive and Home Environments

SAN RAMON, Calif.--July 13, 2004--The OSGi(TM) Alliance today announced the agenda for the OSGi Alliance 2004 World Congress, featuring keynotes from senior executives of IBM, Motorola, Siemens, and Sun Microsystems. Now in its third year, the annual World Congress takes place October 11 - 15, 2004 in Barcelona, Spain.

The announced program features pre- and post-event workshops, keynote presentations, panel sessions and exhibitions. This year's agenda is based around the theme "Convergence: Going Mobile, Driving, and Connecting the Home with OSGi Solutions." In addition to the keynote headliners, many of the world's top experts on commercially available and developing OSGi technology implementations will speak or join panel discussions exploring the latest products, end-to-end architectures, and software solutions across multiple environments. The featured four keynote presenters are:

Jim Colson, Chief Architect for Client Software -- IBM

Within IBM, Jim is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology, a member of the I/T Architect Certification Board, and a Steering Committee member of the IBM Software Group Architecture Board. Previous IBM responsibility, as a member of the IBM Federal Systems Division, includes the architecture, development and deployment of advanced real-time, multiprocessor control systems products and solutions using advanced object oriented and data flow technologies.

Padmasree Warrior, SVP and CTO -- Motorola, Inc.

As SVP and CTO for Motorola, Padmasree Warrior has responsibility for Motorola Labs, the global software group and emerging early-stage businesses. Ms. Warrior's operational responsibilities include leading a global team of 4,600 technologists, prioritizing technology programs, creating value from intellectual property, guiding creative research from innovation through early-stage commercialization, and influencing standards and roadmaps. She also serves as a technology advisor to the office of the chairman and to the board's technology steering committee.

Christopher Wild, Chief Technologist, Software and Services -- Siemens VDO IT

Christopher Wild has twenty years experience as a Software Technologist in industries as diverse as Telecom, Aerospace, CAD and Automotive. He has worked in both Europe and the US, assuming roles from consultant to Chief Technologist. At Siemens VDO he was responsible for introducing the OSGI based product platform currently released in the BMW series 5. His current role is to lever this platform into the connected Web Service arena for Automotive and other mobile applications.

Carl Cargill, Director, Corporate Standards -- Sun Microsystems

Carl Cargill is Sun's Director of Standards, where he manages Sun's standardization strategies, activities, and portfolio. He is a member of the W3C Advisory Board, the Board of Directors of the OSGi Alliance and Open GIS Consortium and Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee of the IT Industry Council. He has written two books on the subject of standardization and its practical applications, and was Editor-in-Chief of StandardView, ACM's journal of standardization.
