Provisional Qualifying
Thursday, July 9, 2004
Molson Indy Toronto
Round 6 of 16
Michel Jourdain, #9
Qualified 5th 59.701/105.827 mph
Jourdain posted the fifth fastest qualifying time during provisional qualifying for Sunday's Molson Indy Toronto making him
the fastest Mexican driver for the day. The veteran driver certainly knows the quick way around the temporary street
circuit as he showed with a third place start in 2003.
Michel Jourdain
"I have been saying to everyone that I've never met people as committed to winning as this RuSPORT team.
The Gigante car is really good. We have a chance to improve a few things for tomorrow. We've been
struggling with provisional qualifying all season, but we're only four tenths off the pole today and it's nice to be
so close to the top early in the weekend. During the week, I told (his wife) Nora that I was really confident and
looking forward to the Toronto race. I'm looking forward to a strong finish this weekend."
Jeremy Dale, Team President
"Michel and his Gigante crew have had an exceptional day. This is really tough race track. It's very bumpy; it's
got a lot of changes and variations in surfaces. It's a real challenge to make the car good here. He's only four
tenths off the pole and Michel and his crew should be very proud of that. He drove a hell of a lap and really
rung the car out. It's nice to see him in the top-5. Tomorrow will be tougher because the track will be quicker,
but at least we're in the window and we're up there challenging."
