Molson Indy Toronto
Round 6 of 16

A.J. Allmendinger, #10

Qualified 11th 60.208/104.936 mph

Rookie AJ Allmendinger struggled to find a set-up to his liking on the temporary street circuit along Toronto's Exhibition
Place.  Last year's Toyota Atlantic event and series champion posted his quickest lap of the qualifying session on his 11th
lap before going off into the Turn 8 run-off with five minutes remaining in the session.  Fortunately, Allmendinger did not
make contact and was able to return to pit lane under his own power.

A.J. Allmendinger

"The car is just really not where we need it to be.  Everything we throw at it doesn't seem to make much of an
improvement, so we're a bit lost at the moment.  There's just no grip in the car.  Hopefully, we can get
something from (teammate) Michel (Jourdain Jr.) because he had a good qualifying run. Near the end of the
session, I had to go off in the escape road and the Safety Team turned me around, but that didn't hurt the lap
or the session.  The speed we posted is about as fast as the car's capable of today.  (Chief Race Engineer)
David (Brown) and the guys have been in this position before and always managed to come up with a fix so,
we'll come back tomorrow and challenge for the front."

Jeremy Dale, Team President

"It's definitely a challenging day for AJ and his guys.  It didn't help that he ended up down the escape road on
that last run because it interrupted his flow.  Right now the car just isn't where it needs to be for him and he
doesn't have a lot of confidence in the car.  We know that AJ's not afraid to throw the car around.  He's not
afraid to challenge the car, to make it work hard and do all things he needs to do to make the car go fast.  So, if
he's not doing that then there's another issue.  The guys will go to work and they'll figure it out."
