TOMMY KENDALL QUICKEST IN FIRST-ROUND PRACTICE IN TORONTO
TORONTO, Ontario (July 9, 2004) — Tommy Kendall set the fastest time during first-round practice Friday for tomorrow's Trans-Am in T.O., part of the Molson Indy Toronto weekend. Kendall, driving the No. 11 Jaguar R Performance XKR, turned the 1.75-mile temporary street course in one minute, 12.774 seconds at an average speed of 86.817 miles per hour.
Jorge Diaz, Jr. was second quickest in the No. 8 Puerto Rico Grand Prix Jaguar XKR, ahead of Paul Gentilozzi (No. 3 Jaguar R Performance XKR). Ron Fellows (No. 40 Molson Indy Chevrolet Corvette) and Tomy Drissi (No. 5 Dodgeball—The Movie Jaguar XKR) completed the top five.
The combined 45-minute practice/qualifying session is scheduled for today at 4 p.m. The Trans-Am in T.O., Round 5 of the 2004 Motorock Trans-Am Series Championship, is scheduled to start tomorrow at 3 p.m. The race will air LIVE on HDNet, with highlights coverage airing on Spike TV's "Dangerous Curves" on Sunday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. (EDT/PDT).
