DaimlerChrysler Services Signs on as Signature Sponsor of the Festival of Global Cultures: Tribute to Pablo Neruda

* Opening Celebration Begins July 11 at the Latino Cultural Center * Nearly 50 Cultural Events Planned Throughout the Year-long Festival * Offers Educational Opportunities and Cultural Enrichment

DALLAS, July 9 -- DaimlerChrysler Services North America expands its partnership with DFW International, announcing today it is the signature sponsor of the year-long Festival of Global Cultures: Tribute to Pablo Neruda. DFW International's press conference and opening ceremony will be held July 11 at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas.

The sponsorship builds on DaimlerChrysler Services' existing partnership with DFW International. One of the components in the education module contains projects and exercises suitable for elementary, secondary and college level audiences and includes a free teachers guide to Pablo Neruda and Chilean culture. The guide will be published in both Spanish and English to be used as a resource by teachers and librarians. As part of the Tribute to Pablo Neruda, a series of nearly 50 cultural events are planned for the year and will include music, poetry, prose, dance, film and multi-media.

Born in Chile on July 12, 1904, Pablo Neruda created romantic and epic poetry, as well as drama and prose that captured the essence of America. He gave voice to the common struggles of laborers. Neruda was more than a Nobel Prize winning poet, he also served as a diplomat and political leader.
